Primary Education Tutor (In-Person)

About the Role

We are seeking a caring, creative, and committed Primary Education Tutor to provide high-quality, in-person tuition to primary-aged students in and around Peterborough.

This role is ideal for an experienced tutor or teacher who enjoys supporting young learners through engaging, confidence-building lessons and understands the importance of nurturing both academic development and wellbeing.

  • Location: Peterborough, UK

  • Hours: Flexible evenings (from 4:00pm onwards)

  • Contract Type: Self-employed / Subcontractor (no guaranteed hours)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging primary-level tuition tailored to individual student needs

  • Use creative and play-based learning approaches to support understanding and confidence

  • Adapt lessons to suit different learning styles and abilities

  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback

  • Write short session reports following each lesson

  • Manage your own availability and personal tutoring diary

  • Travel to students’ homes or agreed locations in the Peterborough area

  • Maintain a professional, safe, and supportive learning environment

 

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g. Primary Education, Education Studies, or related subject)

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ teaching or tutoring experience in primary education

  • Experience working with primary-aged students

  • Availability for evening sessions from 5:30pm onwards

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (registered to the Update Service or willing to obtain one)

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable car

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Comfortable working as a self-employed subcontractor, with no guaranteed hours

  • Enjoys using creative and interactive teaching approaches

  • Currently tutoring or working within an educational setting

  • Passionate about education, child development, and wellbeing

  • Reliable, organised, and professional

  • Excellent communication and rapport-building skills with children and families
