11+ Specialist Tutor (Remote / Online)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and knowledgeable 11+ Specialist Tutor to provide high-quality online tuition to students preparing for the 11+ secondary school entrance examinations.

The 11+ is typically taken by pupils in Year 6 (ages 10–11) and assesses a child’s academic ability and reasoning skills. Depending on the local authority or school, the exam commonly includes English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning, with a focus on problem-solving, comprehension, and logical thinking.

This role is ideal for a tutor who understands the demands of selective school entrance exams and can deliver structured, engaging, and confidence-building online lessons.

  • Location: Peterborough, UK

  • Hours: Flexible evenings (from 4:00pm onwards)

  • Contract Type: Self-employed / Subcontractor (no guaranteed hours)

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver targeted online 11+ preparation lessons tailored to individual student needs

  • Teach core 11+ subject areas, including:

    • English (comprehension, grammar, vocabulary)

    • Mathematics (KS2 content, reasoning, and problem-solving)

    • Verbal Reasoning (logic, word patterns, codes)

    • Non-Verbal Reasoning (spatial awareness, visual logic)

  • Use clear explanations and creative teaching approaches to make complex concepts accessible

  • Monitor progress and adapt lesson plans to address gaps in knowledge

  • Write short session reports after each lesson outlining progress and next steps

  • Manage your own availability and tutoring diary

  • Create a supportive, professional, and motivating online learning environment

 

Essential Requirements

  • A degree in a relevant field (e.g. Education, English, Mathematics, Psychology, STEM or related subject)

  • Minimum of 2+ years’ tutoring or teaching experience, ideally with primary or 11+ students

  • Proven ability to teach 11+ content and exam technique

  • Availability for sessions from 4:00pm onwards

  • Enhanced DBS certificate (registered to the Update Service or willing to obtain one)

  • Access to reliable technology, including:

  • Working laptop or desktop computer

  • Stable internet connection

  • Microphone (and webcam where possible)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • Comfortable working as a self-employed subcontractor, with no guaranteed hours

  • Currently tutoring or working within education
